Sunday January 30,2005

We ended it making to the cricket yesterday. Kieran is obsessed with balls as soon as we pulled up he started to clap & yell out ball. He had a play on the swings & wes entranced by a game of tennis going at the nearby court. In between I watched a little cricket & saw another disappointing performance by Gordon DCC.
Had the best night sleep for about 3 weeks & slept thru the alarm. I managed to get out the door at 625am. I ended catching up with Richard M & ran with him for 25mins & then ran with Tiff for 35mins in Centennial & Queens Park.I ended up running for 85 mins for 19k all up & felt ok my body is not as sore as it has been lately. So running is a little more pleasurable.
Amy geting off to work this morning was not so tricky as Kieran was in the play pen when she left home. He has benn in a good mood this weekend . We went to the playground for an hour before the rain came & then had a wrestle & even managed to watch one of his videos for longer than 5 mins.I would not mind watching a surf carnival at Coogee nearby when the boy wakes up but it is so muggy & will have to wait if the rain stays away. Amy gets home a little earlier from work so hopefully meet upwith a friend of hers at Clovelly Beach.
Hope to get an early start tomorrow morning to do some weights & a 12k run in the bushtrails near work. Tuesday I'll do some 400's at Marks with Tiff.I'm off to watch a video before K wakes up.

Did weights at gym yesterday feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things now that the Christmas period is over.
Got up early & did some hills near in Centennial Park @ 615am.I averaged 42.95 for 13 reps with jog back down as a recovery. The hills are on grass & about 200m long. 42.95 you say hey I averaged 43 secs last week I'm getting desperate for improvement. My first few reps were pretty dusty but last 6 were ok. Still awhile to go though.
I spotted Sean Williams group doing a tempo run in Queens park on the way & hoping I can join them next week as Amy has the next 2 weekends off work. If not next weekend maybe the weekend after.
I took Kieran grocery shopping this morning & he was well behaved always tough for him when mum goes off to work. The little man is asleep at the moment hence a chance to get on the computer. I hope to take him to watch some cricket later in the arvo when it cools down & there are swings there so it will be a win.
Running 1hr 20 early tomorrow morning & hope to meet up with either Martin otr Tiff to make the run more enjoyable

January 27,2005

I ran after work at Naremburn Oval & did 16x200 with 1 min recovery. The oval is pretty rough with branch sticks on the ground & running around trees but it is so convienent being so close to work. I can then pick up Kieran from childcare at work afterwards so running at Naremburn fits in nicely . I averaged exactly the same time as the week before for 14 reps 33.9. Some of middle reps were a bit slower which pushed the average up. I was hoping to run a little quicker but I had been feeling a little off colour so just happy to get through the session ok. A big plus from the session was that I did not pull up with any niggles which has been happening anytime that I have been doing any shorter reps lately.Hopefully in the next few weeks I can improve my times & I hope to be averaging under 33 seconds by the time winter season starts in April. Tomorrow is a well deserved rest day from running & I will be doing a weight session at the gym.

January 26 , 2005

Had a good run yesterday in the ever diminshing bush trails near work. I have been trying not to look at my watch when I go out on my easy/steady runs. Just trying to run how I feel rather than race on my easier days. Hopefully this will reap benefits when I do quality sessions. I felt a bit crook last night . I must have been running a temp. I am going to try 200's tomorrow so hopefully I will feel ok. I am hoping to improve my times. It has been a long struggle to get back to full fitness. This month has been the best that I have had training wise since June last year & hopefully it will continue & I cpould nudge 320k this month.

Running Background

Hi,
I have been running ever since high school now over 30 years. I have always had a great love of Sports & Running was just something I did in between the Football & Cricket seasons. I started to win races in inter school competition & that fired my enthusiam for running . I competed at Interclub for 27 years competing in State & National Titles . Now I just run in local Club Road & XCountry Races in winter.Still enjoying getting out & running about 80k a week & doing speed sessions . My goal in 2005 is to break 50 minutes one last time in the City to Surf & enjoy my time with my 19 month old boy Kieran & wife Amy.I have already started to corrupt my boy by taking him along to Cricket & Foootball matches.
