Running
It's been awhile since I posted so thought it was time I did some keyboard work. I have noticed that my posts have been getting further and further apart.
I've been busy on the running front. With two recent races. My training has been going well doing intervals at Gore Hill and a really good mile rep session in Centennial session a few days before the 9k at Sydney Running Festival. All my running has been done by myself lately as Tiff has been injured for about 3 weeks . Reminds you how you take running for granted sometimes. It is so good just to be out doing it.
I have been happy with my last two races. I did the Striders 10k @ North Head . I was a bit rushed as I only got to the start 20mins beforehand. It is quite a good course and luckily a still morning. My splits were pretty even . I had a bit of a flat spot from 5k - 6k but I was caught by this guy and I went with him and we started to pick up other guys on the hillier 7k mark and I just came home from there. I did 35.04 and I was hoping to do 35.20 so pleased with that. The 9k last Sunday went well too no wind like last year. The course was a little short but I was pleased with the effort. I always get the impression that I go out too slow when I see guys in front that I normally beat I think I must be struggling. The race is over the full distance not just start . My aim was sub 31.30 (hard to judge because unsure of distance) and run aggresively in the Domain where it is a little hillier and further into the race.I ran with Belinda Wilsher for about 4k and thought dshe was getting away from me on downhill section near the 3k mark but I hung on but started to feel better at the 5k. I paniced a bit when I saw the 7.16 split @ 2k but 10.14 @ 3k reassured me not to concern myself too uch with the k markers. I ran well in the Domain and caught a pack of about 6 runners and ended up finishing in front of all of them except. I took a bit of a wrong turn in the finishing shoot as you are going flat strap and people waving flags it is all confusing. Anyway not much damage done and ended up doing 30.51 after getting thru the baracades.
I bumped into Lawrie & Tony this morning and Lawrie said looked we picked up a stray dog. That made me laugh. First run with anyone for ages. We were talking about how they were better in our day.
My next race will be Stiders 10k at Homebush and hope to give 35mins a crack.Have to make an early exit.
Life
Well been busy busy busy. Amy has started to do some extra shifts thru the night so I had 3 nights in a row with Kieran. It really does have an impact on his behaviour as he has not been a happy camper with the extra day at daycare and not having mum around. He has not wanted to get out of the car even.He had a rough night on Friday night and did not sleep from 3am so videos thru till about 9am. He was exhausted on Saturday around lunchtime so I took the opportunity to get some sleep too. We had a great day Sunday as Amy only worked in the morning so we met up with some friends at Bondi Beach for the Festival of the Kites. I never realised how rough Kieran was as the other couples had mostly girls and Kieran is jumping all over me and wrestling. He got a bit jealous when I picked one of the other couples little boy and straight away wanted me to pick him up.
Well we have lost the Ashes . The Poms played better. A Pommy guy behind at work is loving it. St.Kilda play the Swans on Friday night and if they lose people will give me hell. It is tough following an interstate team in Sydney.Newtown play St George on Saturday after losing last week to Canberra last week n extra time. Luckily they get a few players back as Cronulla now out of NRL. The old Bluebags have had a great year. Kieran and I had a good time at the last home match as a lot of the old players turned up and they had a good crowd and gave Souths a bit of a touch up. Kieran loved it as they kept playing the Newtown theme song after each try.Cricket season just around the corner. I hope to see the movie Perfect Catch as I loved Fever Pitch and the story is the same just changing sportsr based on my team the Red Sox. So I will be hoping for a nights leave pass. I'm catching up with some old work colleagues on Friday at Kirribilli and am looking forward to it.
Better get going. Till next time.
