Running

It's been very quiet on the running front. As I have just picked up an injury. The inside of my left knee is sore. I can run but I'm very tender on it till I warm up but I figure if I'm hobbling to start with their must be something wrong. I have been icing my knee at work and have booked a physio appointment near work next Tuesday. I'm not sure what caused the problem. I had 5 days off running just over a week ago and a few days back running again my knee was tender. Hopefully the physio can pin point the problem . I hoping the physio has a knowledge of running. I was just starting to do some more speed oriented training and Tiffany finally looks like she is on the mend. I am just trying to be patient and hopefully will not be off running for too long a period of time by being conservative. At the moment I would say the injury is Grade 1 and if I don't to anything too silly my time away from running will be less. Thankfully I had no races planned and have been lucky that until now have managed to escape injury this year.

Life
Amy has had a little more time off work lately as she had Sunday off and will be off all weekend. She had the day off last Saturday but went shopping for some down time. I took Kieran to the cricket and the beach so things worked out fine. When I was driving with to work the other day he said cricket. I had to say not today Saturday. It is amazing how much you influence.
I have come to the conclusion that children are not really morning people. We always sit down in the morning with Kieran and a video or DVD and would not dream of rushing him off with me to daycare. Once he sort himself out he is fine always good for a giggle. He still puts up a bit of a fight when I drop him off to daycare but if their is an interesting activity like painting going on he is ok.Amy is working overnight on Sunday so wish me luck with Kieran
A conractor had a nasty accident at work at roof this morning falling thru the skylight and breaking his ankle in the process. It could have been a lot worse. Look forward to the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.Amy is working overnight on Sunday so wish me luck with Kieran who is ever out there in blogland.

Till next time.

Running

Gone of the boil a little on my running. The quality sessions that I have been doing have been just a fraction slower than normal . I ran Striders 10k @ Homebush last weekend and did 35.26 . I was hoping for a sub 35min but felt than I needed to be a little more aggressive to achieve that goal . I was running in a pack and just sat in there instead of getting to the front and pushing the pace. The truth that I would have only done about 10secs faster and didn't feel that sharp.Still I can't complain it is good to be racing and have been consistent without dropping off the pace too much.
The quality sessions that I have been doing at Gore Hill which at the moment resembles a war zone as it is being resurfaced. I have done 6x2 laps approx 876m with 1min recovery in average of 2.50.5 . Also done 10 x 1 lap 438m with 1 min recovery in high 1.20.5. I also have done some sessions in Centennial Park on Tuesday afternoons doing a full lap of the fence 3.6k in 12.33 and 2 min recovery and just over half way 1860m in 6.19. I also did a session of 3x2k with 90secs recovery in 6.39 averaged. I got heckled by some hobos who were running as well decided to be smart. This was a really good session as I was rested as I didn't run the day before Monday as I had a dizzy spell aon Sunday nigt and decided to err on the side of caution and not run. My long runs on Sunday have been too quick as I run the same course along the beaches and then head into Centennial Park. I need to slow down on my easy days. It really helps to run with someone as it slows me down and it is good to have a chat and leaves a little more in the tank for the quality sessions. Tiff been injured for 6 weeks and conting. Hope fully she will be back in a fortnight.
I hope to run the last Striders race @ Lane Cove in November but Amy is down to work but hopefully she will swap to do a late shift. It would be last race till about April next year.I am going to change the focus of my training with more shorter reps so if I get to race it should be interesting. On Tuesday I did some 200's in the first time for ages and averaged 34.1 with slightly less than 1 min recovery on Naremburn Oval which is pretty rough. It wasn't too bad as a bit rusty on this sort of training.
Life
I cannot believe how much Kieran is developing when I cast my mind back to what he was like awhile back. To see kids develop at the rate they do is truly amazing. He has done some funny things we were watching the NRL Grandfinal when he started to race around the room like a mad man yelling soccer and throwing himself on the floor and saying tackled.I have been taking him to watch some cricket and he will watch it with me and then we go and play on the swings. He seems to enjoy having me talk to some aquintances at the cricket. We watched some cricket on the TV last night and Amy's sister from Connecticut spoke to him this morning and he started jibbering about cricket . He also plays tennis with me when we get home. Amy went for a run on Sunday morning and he wanted to go along and got a little upset when he couldn't go with her. So it looks like we might have another sports nut in the family. I feel like Kieran is trying it on with me as I have quite a few bite marks on my back and arm from his tooth work. I feel like he challenges me more because he can get away with more from me than Amy. I had a rough morning with him the other day as Amy worked overnight two nights i a row . He woke up @ 3am and wanted to watch the Wiggles and I told he could not watch them till it go light outside. I finally got him to sleep at 430am and when he woke up at 7am what does he say ? Light Wiggles.
Amy's eldest sister is moving to Florida as husband has just had a relocation with his job at Ford. So our next trip to the States will be interesting as family members in 4 different states. I have a good friend in Jacksonville who we exchange emails with everyweek so I'm hoping we can catch up with him on our next visit. He is a mad Red Sox fan like myself.
Change of season with the sporting codes and now into cricket mode. Swans won the AFL. I was a little disappointed at StKilda's demise but good luck to the Swans they wanted it more. As they say their is always next year. Congratulations to the West Tigers good to see an underdog win. Had an enjoyable season watching Newtown and had a great year making it to the final. I have given up on Gordon Rugby and looks like the Red Sox are gone and Stoke City are free falling. I hope to see a little club cricket this summer as Gordon look a little more competitive this season.Good to see Aussies beat Rest of the World in a one dayer we could sure do with a boost.Sorry to bore you all with the sport but I love it .
Got to start doing a bit more work so better go.
Till next time.
