Running

I have been getting back into the running and have a few niggles but thankfully able to put some quality sessions together. So here is a summary of what I've done.
Thurs - Did 1 lap of fence Centennial Pk on grass with Tiff at lunchtime . It was a bit rough under foot with pipes being relayed. I did 13.18 which was 1 min improvement on two weeks back . Tiff did 13.27. A rush to get back to work and had trouble getting a parking spot at work.
Fri - Run for 50 mins
Sat 16th - morn early start out the door at 530am did 9x400 1mi rec on road near Moore Park where their was plenty of street lights.Ran ok ave 72.9 only one slow rep.
Sun - morn 530am Beaches and Cp and loop at home. I was tired as only got about 3 hours sleep as Kieran had a rough night. Ran for 90 mins - 12.5mls Luckily had a 90 min sleep in the arvo watching the footy in front of the tele
Mon - Ran just over 50 mins @ 630 am with Tiff easy . It was a cold morning. Did weights at lunchtime.
Tues - Did 5 x mile 1min recovery with Tiff 630am start at Centennial along the fence. I was only going to do 4 but paced Tiff on her last rep . I got better as I went along ave for 4 reps was 5.28. It was the best I have pulled up from a hard session for ages.
Weds - morn 630 start ran from home and then ran with Tiff in the park. I ended up running for 64mins 9miles . I did some weights at lunchtime.
Thurs - Ran in the afternoon at Gore Hill . I did 8 x oval 450m 1min rec. I started slowly but better as I went along. My right leg was a bit sore after 4 reps but managed to get through the session and did a lot of icing afterwards.
Fri - Rest day from running. Did some weights and stretching at the gym .

Been encouraging week and hopefully can get through the shorter reps sessions. I think I will try and run a race this weekend at the Randwick Botany club race as Amy has the day off and Kieran would be asleep. If I get through this race the City to Surf is a goer.

Life
Been a tough week for me with Kieran. Amy did a later shift last Friday for the first time on Friday night and so I was flying solo . It went ok feeding, bathing and putting him to bed. This was the calm before the storm . Unfortunately on Saturday arvo Kieran got woken up after only 50 mins rest so he was not happy. He wanted to get back in the pram for a walk but after 30mins he could not get back to sleep. Being sick didn't help mattters. So after plenty of crying I packed him up in the car and took him on a cardive and after 20mins he finally was subdued. Not much sleep on Saturday night as Kieran had a tough night. I had a friend who popped in on the spare of the moment which thre the routine out and Kieran was a little hyped . Amy had gone out with work colleagues so it was hard to get him to sleep. All this must have contributed to a rough night for Kieran.Unfortunately we never got to go on the train ride at West Ryde again .This morning was tough one too Amy had gone to work and he woke at 810am calling for mummy and was not impressed when mum was not there. 40 mins later peace was restored.
It all seems like rough sailing at the moment but when they smile sweetly it is all wothwhile. The plus side is I get to race this weekend and have been promised a night out at the movies.
Watched the test cricket last night and was really woried but Glenn McGrath put us back into the test. Saw a replay of the Saints v Richmond game and a big improvement from the Saints. The big test will come in a few weeks time though.
We have been playing a lot of table tennis at lunchtimes and it's been fun. Work is pretty quiet at the moment.
I better get going till next time

Running

I have been a bit slack posting on my blog lately due to my fading fitness level. I came back after battling thru a cold for 3 weeks and then irritated my right glute doing my first speed session. I'm happy to report that I am on the improve after a massage and a more conservative approach to training. I just did easy 50 minute runs for a week.I did an interval session on Saturday and pulled up ok. Although it is a bit depressing losing fitness. Unfortunately I don't think I will be doing the City to Surf due to losing fitness levels so I would not be able to achieve my goal time of sub 50 mins. Also it is just too much of a hassle asking Amy to swap shifts from that weekend to indulge my running. I did not do my long run yesterday and felt like I was missing something all day. So I went for a 90 minute run this morning and boy was I looking forward to it despite the inclement weather.Oh well hopefully I can a fe sessions together and start getting fitter again. I notice a pattern with my training in that I get fit and hold that high for about a month and then I crash and burn. It would then take about 5 weeks or so get back to my former fitness levels. The last 5 weeks have seen me going backwards but I'm hopeful that their is light at the end of the tunnel again. It is difficult doing the hard training knowing that you can't race but I still enjoy getting out there and pushing myself.

Life

Amy and I have had a major breakthrough with Kieran in that he is finally sleeping in the cot. We just had to break the cycle as he just would not settle in bed with us and this in turn was part of the reason that it took so long for Amy and myself to shake off our colds because we were just not getting enough rest. The last week before went to the cot was ridiculous .It was tough th first couples of nights with Kieran sleeping in the cot because he would get so upset but it is for his own good. He has to have all his Wiggles figures, his blanket and various toys with him before he goes to sleep. He was funny we had dinner at mum's place last night and put the football on and the Knights were on and he kept saying town for Newtown . Thinking it was Newtown. It must have been the blue colours. Amy,Kieran and myself went to watch Newtown the week before and Amy was nodding off and I woke her up when I yelled out. Shows you how engrossed she was if she falling asleep.Had a tough trip home with Kieran on Friday night as when I went to pick him up from the childcare he was watching the Wiggles on TV and did not want to leave. I must tell them at Childcare that is a no no as I would prefer not to travel home with a screaming child. The boy is just obbsessed with the Wiggles it is difficult tp ply him away from the TV when they are on.Amy has bought some tickets for the Wiggles at Christmas time and asked me if I think if Kieran will be sick of the Wiggles by then. I don't think so.
Amy and I went to a wedding on Saturday afternoon at Coogee. So we had some rare time out . Amy used to work with the bride and she is goo d fun. The mother in law made a really nice speech.Luckily the weather held out.We had Tiff and John around for breakfast on Sunday morning and Kieran was quite shy to start with but then he was fine. The panckaes went down well.
I hope to take the little man on a toy train ride next Saturday and I will have the day off work tomorrow to look after him so might take him to the movies to see Madagasr but if he just wants to hang aroung the house that is fine.
Not much else to report. Till next time.
